CISaC's newest Management Board member is Ian Wilms. Ian has had a 13 year career with IBM Canada, where he currently holds the position of Public Safety Executive. He is also engaged in the Calgary community through his roles as Chairman of the Calgary Police Commission, President of the Canadian Association of Police Boards, and 2nd Vice-Chairman of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.

The University of Calgary has approved undergraduate courses for students wanting to establish an area of concentration in information security within the Compuer Science program. This new concentration went online in the fall of 2007.

The Calgary Laboratory for Information Assurance and Security (CLIAS) is a new collaborative initiative at the University of Calgary, spearheaded by CISaC, the Insitute for Quantum Information Science (IQIS) and the Advanced Technology Information Processing Systems (ATIPS) Laboratory.

Professor Paul Dourish will be giving a lecture entitled From Privacy and Security to Collective
Information Practices on March 16, 2005 at 11 am in room 516 of the ICT Building.
Paul is an Associate Professor in the Donald Bren School if Information and Computer Science at at the University
of California Irvine and the Associate Director of the Irvine Division of the California Institute for
Telecommunications and Information Technology.
